DTF Artwork Requirements
Prepare Your Artwork the Right Way for Perfect DTF Prints
To achieve the best print quality possible, your artwork must be set up correctly before uploading. At SV Printing and Transfers, we want every customer to receive crisp, vibrant, and professional DTF transfers that press beautifully onto any garment.
Follow this simple guide to make sure your artwork is print-ready and free from common issues that can affect color, sharpness, or transparency.
1. File Type
We strongly recommend submitting your designs as PNG files with a transparent background.
Other acceptable formats include PDF, TIFF, and PSD, but PNG (300 DPI) gives the best combination of color accuracy and edge clarity.
Avoid screenshots or low-resolution JPEGs — they can create jagged edges and poor print quality.
2. File Resolution
Your artwork should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) at the final print size.
Low-resolution files may look clear on your screen but will appear blurry or pixelated when printed.
Tip: Double-check your file size before uploading — for example, if your design will be 10 inches wide, it should be 10" × 300 DPI = 3000 pixels wide.
3. Background Transparency
Always remove the background unless it’s part of your design.
DTF printing transfers exactly what’s in your file, so if your artwork includes a white or colored background, it will print on your garment.
Use a transparent background for clean, professional results.
If you’re unsure, email your file to sequatchieprinting@gmail.com, and we’ll check it for you at no charge.
4. Color Mode
All artwork should be saved in RGB color mode — not CMYK.
Our printers are calibrated for digital RGB printing, producing brighter colors and smoother gradients.
If your file is in CMYK, colors may appear duller or slightly shifted when printed.
5. Artwork Size
Design your artwork at the exact size you want it printed.
Scaling up small images can cause distortion or blurriness.
For gang sheets, we recommend measuring each design carefully before combining them into one layout.
Common gang sheet sizes include:
-
22″ × 24″
-
22″ × 36″
-
22″ × 48″
-
22″ × 60″
For more options, check our DTF Gang Sheet Printing Page.
6. Fonts and Text
If your artwork includes text, make sure to convert all fonts to outlines (or “rasterize” them).
This prevents missing font errors and ensures your text prints exactly as designed.
If you’re sending layered files (like PSD or PDF), flatten your artwork before saving.
7. Color and White Underbase
We automatically print a white underbase layer beneath all designs.
This makes your colors pop on dark fabrics and ensures true color vibrancy.
If you have special design areas that shouldn’t have white ink (like transparent fades or distressed effects), please specify that in your upload notes.
8. Gang Sheet Layout Tips
If you’re uploading a gang sheet, make sure:
-
All designs fit within the selected print size.
-
There’s at least 0.25" of spacing between each design.
-
All artwork is facing the correct direction (no upside-down designs).
You can create your gang sheet using any design software or directly in our online Gang Sheet Builder for easy drag-and-drop alignment.
9. File Naming
Use clear, simple file names to avoid confusion.
Example:
✅ clientname_logo_front.png
✅ teamshirts_design_22x36.png
Avoid long or random filenames — it helps us identify your artwork faster during processing.
10. Checking Before Upload
Before submitting your file:
-
Zoom in 100–200% to check edges and details.
-
Verify resolution and transparency.
-
Ensure colors look accurate and no background remains.
If you need assistance, send your file to sequatchieprinting@gmail.com and we’ll review it for free to make sure it’s ready for print.
Bonus Tip: Design Software
For best results, use professional software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or CorelDRAW.
You can also use Canva or Procreate, just make sure to export your design as a 300 DPI transparent PNG.
Our Free Artwork Check
We understand not everyone is a designer — that’s why we offer a free manual artwork review with every order.
If your file needs minor adjustments (like background cleanup or resizing), we’ll fix it before printing to guarantee perfect results.
